About BBB Career Event

The BBB Career Event Foundation, established in 1993, is managed entirely by students. Each year, a board of around six volunteer students is put together to organise events that aid students in preparing for their future. In addition to hosting workshops and lectures with inspiring guest speakers, their primary focus is on organising the major annual BBB Career Event. This year the date for the BBB Career Event is 29th of May, 2024.

At the BBB Career Event, more than 40 companies will be in attendance. These companies can connect with over 1200 students from the Science Faculty. The purpose of the event is to enable students to make informed decisions about their future career paths and to find internships.

The Science Faculty consist of the following degrees:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • (Medical) Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Computing Science
  • Molecular Life Science
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Science

The BBB Career Event Foundation is completely run by students. Each year, a board of approximately six volunteering students is formed to organise events that help students to prepare for their future. Being a board member is a very interesting extracurricular experience. All board members are students at the Faculty of Science of the Radboud University.

Sven Meijboom

President & IT Manager

Hi there! My name is Sven Meijboom and I am 22 years old. Since 2020 I have been studying Computing Science. This year, I am proud to be the President of the 33nd Board of the BBB Career Event Foundation.

As the president of the BBB Career Foundation, it is my privilege to work with a talented team of individuals who are dedicated to improving the career opportunities for people at our university. As president, my role is to oversee the strategic direction of the foundation, build relationships with businesses, students and their study associations, and ensure that our events are having a meaningful impact on the people we serve. I am always looking for new ways to expand the reach and impact of BBB Career Event Foundation.

Anne van den Broek

Secretary & PR Manager

Hello, my name is Anne van den Broek and I am a seventh year Chemistry student. I am this year’s Secretary and PR Manager of the BBB Career Event Foundation.

As the secretary my main concern is everything that needs to be communicated. This includes keeping our inbox in check by labelling all incoming emails, writing the weekly minutes during our meetings or communicating with other boards. It’s a very social function, where you are always talking to somebody or bringing people together. A secretary has to be very comfortable being around people and know their way with words. A good secretary makes sure all matters are communicated clearly, correctly and documented properly.

As PR Manager, I am in charge of creating promotional designs, and managing the social media pages. My main task is designing flyers, pamphlets, and posters to promote events. I create designs that will help attract students and keep them informed of upcoming events. Although it is up to me to come up with ideas, I need to collaborate with other board members to discuss and refine my designs.

My two functions combine when it comes to social media manager. This includes managing the accounts, creating content, responding to inquiries, and keeping the pages up to date with relevant information.

Mandy Lammers

Hello, I am Mandy Lammers. I am currently a third year Biology student and I am this year’s treasurer of the BBB.

The treasurer is responsible for all thinks money related throughout the year. At the start of the year they make a budget for the coming year, in which they try to fit all the ideas of the board members. During the year they keep track of the budget by managing revenues and expenses. The treasurer monitors whether they are still on schedule and looks at if there are adjustments that can or must be made to the budget, by looking at possibilities for spending or saving more money. Aside from the bookkeeping, the treasurer also has the opportunity and responsibility to perform other duties within the board.

To become treasurer, prior bookkeeping skills are not a requirement. However, it is favourable to be precise and ordered.

Megha Soni

Account Manager

Hello, I am Megha Soni, currently doing my MSc in Data Science, and I am honored to be serving as this year’s account manager.

As an account manager, I am entrusted with the important responsibility of acquiring new companies and fostering relationships with existing partners. I serve as the primary point of contact for companies seeking assistance and must possess a unique combination of boldness and finesse in my dealings.

In addition to these responsibilities, I am also tasked with the exciting challenge of finding new and innovative companies that align with our mission and values. This, however, can be a difficult task, but I am fortunate to have the support of my fellow board members who assist me in this endeavor. The acquisition process can be a challenging one, requiring a delicate balance between assertiveness and understanding. On a daily basis, I must navigate the delicate balance between these two opposing forces, ensuring that I am able to secure new business while also maintaining positive relationships with our existing partners.

Sabin Iacob

Logistics Manager

Hi, my name is Sabin Iacob and I’m currently in my third year of my bachelor in Computing Science. Besides that, I will be this years Logistics Manager.

The logistics manager is ultimately responsible or the set up of the events. It’s my job to realise the vision of the board, while taking into account the wishes of the companies and visitors. An event for more than 1000 people takes a lot of logistical managing, and important tasks are to design a proper floor plan, making scripts for the board and volunteers, and obtaining the right reservations and licenses. It’s all about understanding people and their behaviour, and giving them a wonderful day at the event about which they will talk about long after. The biggest compliment you can get as a logistics manager is when you’ve heard no one complaining but when everyone is smiling.

Logistics manager is a function where creativity, a solution-driven attitude and structure must converge.

Want to become a volunteer?

Thank you for your interest in helping us!

Volunteers are a group of enthusiastic students of the Radboud University that are an indispensable support to us, the board of the BBB Career Event Foundation, during preparations and during the event. As a volunteer you will help preparing the BBB Career Event (i.e. creating the set-up for the company stands, spreading promotional material, etc.) and, of course, you will be of assistance during the event itself. By helping as a volunteer, you will be able to get to know the BBB Career Event from a whole different perspective.

On one hand, it is a very interesting way to get to see what goes on behind the screens during the organisation of a large scale event like the BBB Career Event. On the other hand, it is also a very nice opportunity to check out how things work if you are interested in organizing the BBB Career Event yourself. It is also a great moment to get to know new people and have a lot of fun. We will give you a nice polo shirt for the day and afterwards, there will be a nice bowling event in order to thank all volunteers for their amazing support!
